In the countryside you will always find something to do - short walks in the area, or walking down to the ocean, breathing in the sea air and watching the birds.
In Skjaldarvik we have riding tours and a riding school where you get to know the unique Icelandic horse. The riding tours vary from 1-3 hours, along riding trails around Skjaldarvik, along the sea and up to the hills. The Riding school offers a wide range of riding courses for all ages, both those who are familiar with horses and riding and those who are not. Children are especially welcome.
Skjaldarvik is a beautiful location just north of Akureyri. It takes only 5 minutes to drive into town to enjoy the various ways of entertainment and sight seeing offered by this lovely place. Distance to many other places of interest is also short and we are of course always ready to assist you planning your trips. Lake Myvatn is just over an hour’s drive away. The Hrisey island is an adventure in it self. The area of Eyjafjordur has many things to offer, it is only a question of what you want to experience.
As with every countryside, you will find animals at Skjaldarvik. Our horses are close by and it is certainly ok to pick up a slice of bread (or two) to bring to the horses to make them happy. Nótt (Night), the dog, is on guard but he doesn’t know how to handle uninvited guests, because here everyone is welcome. The bunnies love to play with the kids but normaly they don’t do anything but eat. Real farmers might not be impressed with our “farming” but we like our little nest in nature.
